49th Floor Railing Installation Complete at NYC Woolworth Building
We recently visited the 49th Floor of the Woolworth Building in New York City to see the first completed installation of the custom AVCON railing solution for the project, and are thrilled to share a “peek” with you! In fact besides Batman himself, few but the future owner of this multi-million dollar condominium will be able to see it yet it serves a very important purpose.
The railing cannot be seen from street level. The 49th Floor can only be seen by the owner/tenants looking through the windows. The light installations around the railing will light up the building at night.
The CNY Group selected AVCON’s Majestic Series Powder Coated Aluminum “Commander” Glass Railing System to bring the building up to current NYC construction code while preserving the aesthetics of the building’s neo-gothic exterior. In order to best showcase the original terracotta rail, we used a special “low iron” glass to maximize the glass area vs. the system profile. The low iron glass is exceptionally clean and much clearer than normal glass.
Due to the complexity of this project, we’ve spent the past several months preparing the pavers and foundation you can see in these photos. This week – weather permitting – we begin installation of the rail at the top floor penthouse, floors 54 through 60.
